Claim of Fact

            After football practice I come to my room, and I start to watch television. That is what I do every day, and then I ask myself what is there to do in Salina, Kansas. When I ask my self that question I realize there is not very much to do for a college kid. This is a huge reason why so many college kids are miserable here.

            Every time the guys on the football team talk about doing stuff on the weekend it is always the same old stuff. Everyone is going to go to “The Spot”, and there is not anything else to do out here in Salina. I and may other people who attend this college  believe that Kansas Wesleyan University would be filled with more people if there was something to do. The people here want to have the entire college experience, and that is why this school has such a large rate of people that come here and leave.

            It is also a negative thing that there is not any hang out spots in Salina because it can make kids turn to negative, alternative ways to entertain themselves. The kids who are weaker and believe that getting high and getting drunk every day are the kids that need something out here more than anything. I believe that is why the DUI (driving under the influence) and DUI (driving while intoxicated) is so popular in Salina.

            There are also a lot of kids that I have met from Kansas and they seemed like they haven’t lived life yet. Like they have been secluded and sheltered there whole life. I wish for those people that they had something besides alcohol or drugs to do. I wish they could go to some type of wholesome environment where they can meet people from around the nation.

            If Salina had more attractions then they could attract more people and make Salina more of a household name, it could become a college that kids will look for. I realized the kids that go here are either here for sports or from Kansas and its close to their homes.

            If it were a bigger University then I think more students would enjoy the outside surrounding. Salina Kansas would be a name on the map and big companies such as Cinemark, Six Flags, and well known restaraunts would choose to locate their companies in our town.
